A dog crate pad is a flat, washable mat that cushions the hard tray of a wire crate or kennel. Choose foam for the most padding, plush or fleece for warmth, or an ice silk pad for warm days. Then match the pad to the inside of your crate floor so it lies flat without bunching.

Measure the inside floor of your crate, length and width, and choose a pad that matches or is slightly smaller. A pad that is too big will curl up at the edges, which is uncomfortable and tempting to chew. Our foam pad measures 29.9 x 20.1 inches and is shaped for a medium wire crate.
No fabric or foam crate pad is completely chew-proof. If your dog chews bedding, start with supervised crate time, offer an appropriate chew toy, and remove the pad if your dog starts tearing it, since swallowed fabric or foam can be dangerous. Once the chewing stops, you can try the pad again.
Our plush, fleece and ice silk pads are machine washable, and the fleece mat can also go in the dryer. For the foam crate pad, remove the fabric cover and wash it separately, then spot-clean the foam. Let everything dry completely before it goes back in the crate.
A thin, washable pad can make the crate more comfortable for a puppy. Puppies often chew and have accidents, so choose something easy to wash, check it daily for damage and remove it if your puppy starts shredding it. A reversible fleece mat is a simple place to start.
