A hammock clips to both the front and rear headrests, so it covers the seat and blocks the footwell, which helps keep your dog from sliding into the gap. A bench cover only lies on the seat, so it is quicker to fit and suits calm dogs or shared back seats. Hammocks are better for big, muddy or restless dogs.
Not all of them. Covers with a PVC coating or a waterproof layer, like our hammock with mesh window, are designed to stop liquids soaking through. Others are water-resistant, which handles light mud and damp coats but not heavy spills. Check each product's material notes before buying if your dog is often wet.
Start with a rubber brush, damp rubber glove or pumice-style pet hair stone to pull embedded hair out of fabric, then vacuum with a brush attachment. Work in short strokes in one direction. A washable seat cover makes future cleanup much easier, since you can shake it out after each trip.
Many covers fit most cars, SUVs and trucks with rear headrests, but seat sizes vary. Measure the width and depth of your rear bench and compare it with the listed dimensions. For a large SUV trunk, our cargo liner measures 72.8 x 40.6 inches.
